2024 DACtion Report

Foreword

A year feels like a very short time in climate tech.

2024 was no different. This year, we raised £21.8 million, put three direct air capture (DAC) systems on the ground, and doubled the size of our team — all while kicking off development for a next-generation product.

It’s an optimistic, intense pace that we’ve set since founding Mission Zero four years ago, but one that our young industry must maintain to meaningfully impact the climate crisis. The 2020s really are the decade of delivery for scaling DAC. Here’s how we rose to the challenge this year.

What we’re here to do

Reinventing carbon for good

“To scale this decade, DAC urgently needs to move out of the lab and into the real world. ”

Nicholas Chadwick, CEO

Our mission

Reinvent our relationship with carbon for good.

Our role

Connect society with the carbon in our atmosphere to defossilise our economy and rebalance our climate.

Our goal

Recover 1 gigatonne of atmospheric CO2 a year by 2040*.

*Climate scientists believe that globally we’ll need to be removing 7-9 Gt each year by mid-century.
